NAARPS is an abstract game intended to be whatever you want it to be. It can be as simple or as complicated as you like, by using the many optional rules or just sticking to the core mechanics. Above all else, NAARPS is a game for collective storytelling. Right from the outset the players and the referee will have to collaborate in order to create a world, make characters to explore it, and direct the story.

Our intention is for NAARPS to be enjoyed as a science fiction game. As such, you will find the rules clearly have that in mind. There is of course no particular reason why you should stick to that. Go ahead, give everyone a sword and send them off to delve the mysterious caves of mystery! You see, NAARPS has no limits on the technology level in your game. If you want the players to live under the shadow of the Virgin Incorporation Archology in Neo-London, where the internet directly connects to your brain, go for it. Or perhaps you might want to ply the popular trade routes between Omicron XI and the Basilisk Star in your trusty Cobra III? What about battling tentacled space beasts in a generation ship where the populace have forgotten the ancient lore of computers, much less their destination? Maybe investigate the bloody trail of the Terrible Glooze in a space station made of crystal? I'm sure you get the picture.
